Frugal Christmas Decor storage

Have you put away your Christmas Decor yet?  I just did mine last night and it got me to think of ways to properly store my decor, which I will be doing next year.  This year, like every year, I just throw everything into totes and pray they survive until next Christmas.  I have been searching for great ways to store my stuff and of course they are frugal ideas, because I am too cheap (and broke) to buy actual storage cases like above!  What is the point when you can do it for free.

The egg crates on left would work good for Christmas tree ball decor.  They even stack and are perfect so they will not roll around.  I am sure you can get them from your local grocer, restaurants or even your local recycling center

The egg cartons on right would be great for storing smaller decor – wrap in bubble wrap you get in an packages or even tissue paper from gift bags, kleenex, newspaper, etc.

Or, you can go to your local liquor store and ask for these types of boxes that wine comes in for ornament storage!

A great idea for storing Christmas lights are strips of cardboard, like the ones I found on Household Management 101!

This is also great for wrapping your garland or those strings of beads for the trees!

And, how about those wreaths?  Well, I honestly do not have one, but I thought I would help out those that do.  You can use a nice thick shopping bag, a garbage bag or even if you get a big enough gift bag, you can store it in there, get a hanger to put through the handles and put up a hook in your garage to hang it on or even in your closet so it does not get crushed.

Do you have any frugal storage tips to share?

Giveaway & Review: Qwik Shower!

Your Kids Stink!!!! Or maybe you do too!

I got these Qwik Shower wipes to review and they are pretty cool! These are single wipes that you can throw in your gym bag, purse or in the childrens’ backpack to use after gym class, exercising or even after work if you do not have time to shower before going out for the night.  You can just whip one out, use it  and be on your way!

These are not just your average little wipe!  They are like a washcloth – big (10×12) and thick and durable.  One thing I would suggest, is to have a variety of cents.  The scent is a little manly, which is good for a man.  But, women can add a little body mist or perfume to themselves and be good!

Wanna get some of these great wipes?  Go HERE to purchase now!

You can even try one for yourself for only $1 with free shipping!

Recipe: Cream Cheese Biscuits

YUMMO!!!

I saw a recipe when I was thumbing through a cookbook in a waiting room and I thought I would remember the recipe by the time I got, but of course I could not.  I remembered bits and pieces, so I kind of made it my own and I have to admit, they were really good.  I am on my laptop right now so I cannot upload a picture from my camera right now, but I promise to as soon as I can!

Here is the recipe:

Pizza crust.  I used the roll out kind found in the refrigerator section, but I am sure any kind will work!
4oz cream cheese
Garlic Seasoning (I used the Italian Garlic Bread Seasoning from Tastefully Simple)
Shredded Mozz. Cheese
*Mix together cream cheese and garlic seasoning.  Roll out the pizza dough and then spread the cream cheese mixture on the dough.  Sprinkle mzz. cheese on top and then roll it up jelly roll style and cut into slices.  Lay flat onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 12-15min or until golden brown.
It makes about 12 biscuits, depends on how thick you cut them.

Recipe: Pepperoni Bread

Doesn’t it look yummy?  Here is my recipe for homemade pepperoni bread.  I love making these for get-togethers or potlucks!

Pepperoni Bread

Pizza Dough
(I get the stuff in a bag and you just add water, but you can use what you wish)
Pepperoni
Provolome Cheese
Butter, melted
Italian Garlic Bread Seasoning from Tastefully Simple
(You can also use garlic powder)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Roll out the dough and spread the melted butter over the dough. Then sprinkle your seasoning over the top of that.  Lay out your pepperonis and provolone.  Roll it up like a jelly roll, tuck under the edges and place in a greased bread pan. Spread some melted butter on the top of dhough and sprinkle on more seasoning.  Bake at 350 for about 20min or til golden brown.  Cool and cut in slices.
Enjoy!
Recipe: Chicken Cordon Bleu
LOVE Homemade Chicken Cordon Bleu!!!
A friend showed me how to make these and they are delicious!!!
Chicken breasts – as many as you wanna make
Sliced ham
Bacon
provolone cheese slices
Your favorite chicken seasonings
(I use McCormicks Season All, Tastefully Simple’s Garlic Garlic and Pepper)
Meat Mallot
~Put your desired seasonings in a gallon ziploc bag
In another gallon bag, put 1 or 2 chicken breasts inside and use your meat mallot to flatten.  The bag helps cut down on flying chicken juices!!
Put the flatten chicken in bag of spices and shake.  Then take the chicken out and lie on counter, place 2 to 3 slices of ham on the chicken
and about 2 slices of provolone on top of the ham.
Place bacon underneath the chicken and roll it all up and secure with a toothpick.
Place on foil covered cooking sheet and place into a preheated oven of 350 for an hour or til chicken is done!
Enjoy!!!
How was your Christmas?
So, did everyone have a great Holiday Season??  Did you get everything you wanted?
I sure did, and then some – kids were spoiled, of course!
I was hoping to have pictures for you but the kids ruined my camera right before Christmas, so pictures were not taken this year, which is such a bummer.  I love pictures and keeping memories!
I guess I will be on the hunt for a new camera.  I hope this is not a start of a year of replacing cameras.  The beginning of 2011 was bad for that!  My kids ruined 3 of my cameras in a matter of 6 months!  I was not happy.
Anyways, as for how Christmas went, it was great!  We are still not done, we have one more place we have to go.  It is so fun for the kids because they get so many places to open gifts – and maybe too many gifts!
The husband and I will be spending part of our weekend going through their rooms and getting rid of old toys they no longer play with and donating them!
What do you do with old toys and clothes?
